Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc., founded in 1894,
ASHRAE is an international nonprofit technical organization of
55,000 members that influence the direction of heating, ventilation,
air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) technology by creating
industry standards and recommended procedures and guidelines,
developing research and writing technical information.
ASHRAE’s areas of expertise include energy efficiency, indoor air
quality, codes and standards, and guidance for a safe environment
during extraordinary incidents. Its sole objective is to advance through research
standards writing and continuing education the arts and sciences of
heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve
the evolving needs of the public.
